about

This was an intense real experience. I was traveling throughout Mexico with my backpack and guitar. We were in Tulum halfway down the Yucatan coastline and the military soldiers were patrolling the beach waiting for bails of cocaine to roll up on the beach!

lyrics

Crashing Waves

Standing at the Water’s edge, where the land meets the Sea
Amid the turquoise blue and green of the Caribe’
The light shines down in waves, racing across the shore
And I stand here so small but I’m alive, I feel alive
In the Crashing waves

Underneath the light and shadows of the full moon
I see the silhouette of soldiers on the shore
They’ve been searching here for days now, with their guns and in full gear
A week ago they found seven hundred kilos of cocaine here
Just washed up on the shore, washed up on the shore
And now they’re searchin’ for more, in the crashing waves

And all across the world, we’re waging a battle,
Against the odds of time and the greed of men
The strong will protect their soul and their mind
From the devil and with God’s help, will survive, these crashing waves
Ooooohhh these crashing waves

Three thousand years ago the Mayan people settled this land
Building what we still can’t build today
Oh why can’t we turn and learn from the lessons of the past
And find a way to make our civilization last through the crashing waves
These crashing waves
